In case they have to use the route at any time this summer, Fort Frances Emergency Services drove vehicles over the Victoria Avenue crossing yesterday to make sure they could clear it. Work on the Portage Avenue underpass is resuming this week, and will continue for roughly a 25-week construction period. While there is a protocol to allow emergency vehicles access through the construction zone during the daily road shutdown period, Victoria Avenue will be available in the event Portage Avenue is unavailable.
