Members of the Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service, as well from Atikokan and Shuniah (near Thunder Bay), went through a strict decontamination process after responding to a mock chemical leak at the CN rail yard here Sunday morning during the final day of their Hazardous Material Operations Level training. The four-day training, along with the recently-acquired Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) response unit, will allow the fire departments to make an effective initial response on a local or regional basis to emergencies that are chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear in nature until a provincial Level III team can arrive on scene.
