Sue Carlson (foreground), Donna Bird, and many others held a lit candle during yesterday evening’s ceremony at Knox United Church here to mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The ceremony paid tribute to the 14 women killed on Dec. 6, 1989 at L’Ecole Polytechnique, in what has become known as the “Montreal Massacre,” as well as to those across the district whose lives have been taken through gender-based violence.
