On Wednesday morning Mayor Andrew Hallikas gathered with the staff and support partners of Community Living Fort Frances and District to raise the Community Living flag and proclaim Community Living Month.
The mayor’s proclamation reads: “Whereas, Community Living Fort Frances and District is a local organization that works to improve the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities through partnership and collaboration; and;
Whereas, Community Living Fort Frances and District has been providing services and support to people with developmental disabilities and their families in the Fort Frances and Rainy River District area since 1960; and;
Whereas, Community Living Month is a province-wide annual awareness campaign to recognize the accomplishments of the Community Living movement and to celebrate the successes of creating inclusive communities for people with developmental disabilities;
Now Therefore, I Mayor Andrew Hallikas on behalf of Council do hereby proclaim the month of May 2025 as “Community Living Month” in the Town of Fort Frances and encourage all residents to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of Community Living Fort Frances and District and the persons they support in our community.
