Fort Frances Lakers’ goaltender Tyler Ampe kept an eagle eye on action behind his net as the Lakers battled the host Dryden Ice Dogs in the SIJHL preseason opener for both teams last night. Ampe made 21 saves en route to picking up his first win, a 6-5 overtime decision, with the team. Forward Mike Jourdain scored with 56 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game 5-5, while Matthew Caulfield picked up the overtime winner after out-duelling Ice Dogs’ defenceman Jon Mitchell in the corner.
