Cleaning for a cause

Jesse Krahn, 6, and Samantha Halliday, 16, spent two hours cleaning a stretch of road near the ball diamond, and collected several bags of garbage (and found a few lost items!) Showing is just some of what they collected – they had emptied their bags into the dumpster, so they could keep collecting. They were participating in the annual Grand Council Treaty #3 Earth Day Youth Contest, which has seen several groups out cleaning communities and roadways across the District. To see some of the great work our young people are doing to benefit the Treaty #3 lands we all share and love, visit #treaty3youthearthday on facebook, and show our kids some thanks and encouragement for doing a great job. The Grand Council Treaty #3 is encouraging all families to get out this Earth Day and clean up their communities and neighbourhoods. If you are out doing a clean-up, send us a picture, so we can share it with other readers! Send your Earth Day photos to tips@fortfrances.com.
