lunar-eclipse

Devin Eldridge

District residents joined those across Canada who looked to the skies to witness the “supermoon” lunar eclipse last night. The rare occurrence involved a lunar eclipse—when the Earth’s shadow passes over the moon—coinciding with a “supermoon” phenomenon (when a full or new moon makes its closest approach to Earth). That combination hasn’t been seen since 1982 and won’t happen again until 2033.
