J.W. Walker School students Paige Eldridge, left, Angie Redford, Tori Toriseva, and Lauryn Marchant worked together to build a marshmallow catapult yesterday during a career exploration event at La Place Rendez-Vous. Offered by Skills Ontario, the event was held to demonstrate that skilled trades and technologies are accessible, interesting, and fun for young women. About 100 female students in Grades 7-12 from the Rainy River District School Board learned about networking, heard from a number of speakers, and participated in the marshmallow-catapult skills challenge.
