Rochelle Bird, with the United Native Friendship Centre, spoke about the “Sisters In Spirit” initiative, and the number of aboriginal women who have gone missing across the country, during the candlelight vigil held yesterday afternoon at Knox United Church to mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the “Montreal Massacre,” more than 40 people took part in the vigil to remember women who have been victims of gender-based violence, both locally and around the world.
