The Fort Frances Canadians took the top spot in the U11 AA Kenora Thistle Challenge Cup, November 18-20. The team went undefeated for the entire weekend, to secure the Cup for Fort Frances.
The team won games against Kenora (8-6), McDonald (5-3) (Manitoba), Sioux Lookout (3-2) and Dryden (2-1). With a rematch in the finals against McDonald the team had to crawl back twice to win the game 6-5 in a thriller that saw the game winning goal scored with just three minutes left in regulation time.
The team is heading to Duluth this weekend for the Spirit of Duluth tournament and Elks Santa Claus showdown the weekend after to close off 2022 play.
