A group launched into a 5K walk along La Verendrye Parkway to Point Park on Saturday as part of the annual “Walk for Alzheimer’s” held by the Kenora-Rainy River Distrcits Alzheimer Society. At the same time, another group set out in the other direction to take on a 2K route. The event, which started and ended at the Sorting Gap Marina, brought in just over $5,300 to help keep programs and assistance free in the district. Afterwards, a barbecue was held while prizes were given out to the top fundraising teams and individuals.
