A time to gather A time to heal

The crowds may have been smaller than previous years, but the pageantry was out in full force last weekend, as Couchiching First Nation hosted its first in-person pow wow since before the pandemic. The event was a celebration of community and culture, full of dancing, drumming and tradition. Treaty #3 is typically the host of more than two dozen pow wow events throughout the summer, between May and September. Crowds were kept to a minimum at the fully outdoor gathering, by limiting attendees to residents of the Rainy River District.
