A storm of activity

Town employees and a variety of contractors were out in full force on Saturday, working to keep up with the weekend storm. The town declared a State of Emergency, which remains in effect, due to a “critical infrastructure failure.” Crews were pumping out the sewer lines to help the system keep up, and hundreds of homeowners in the each end spent Friday night and Saturday pumping water from basements. The State of Emergency remains in place, as the Town’s drainage systems work to catch up. Until then, residents are being asked to limit water usage, and ensure sump pumps are being drained to the stormwater system, as opposed to the sanitary sewer. – Staff photo
