One new fire was reported in the Northwest Region on Saturday.
Nipigon Fire #39 is a lightning-caused island fire located 40 km southeast of Nipigon near Fluor Island on Lake Superior.
A FireRanger crew responded to the blaze, which was listed as “being held” at last report.
The fire crew will return to the island this week to check it.
No new fires were reported Sunday or yesterday in the region.
Meanwhile, there is one active fire in Fort Frances District.
Fort Frances Fire #21 is a 0.1-hectare island fire located 68 km north of Fort Frances on Asheigama Lake.
It remains listed as “being monitored.”
The forest fire hazard is “low” across the region and is expected to remain so for the next several days.
