The Rainy River District School Board has hired Andrew Harris, of the Durham District School Board, as its new superintendent of education.
Currently the principal of Frenchman’s Bay Public School in Pickering, Ont., Harris also has worked as a principal at Uxbridge Public School and Athabasca Street Public School (both within the Durham board).
He also was employed within the DDSB’s Programs Department as the Management of Information Student Achievement (MISA) Executive Lead and an Education Officer (Curriculum and Technology).
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Mr. Harris to our board and to our senior leadership team,” said Director of Education Heather Campbell.
“We look forward to the opportunity to work with him as we continue with our commitment to provide the highest-quality learning experiences for every student in a safe and welcoming environment,” she added.
Harris will be taking over from Casey Slack, who is retiring in the fall being superintendent of education since 2010.
