Riverside Health Care Facilities, Inc. has announced that Edith Bodnar was appointed to the position of administrator at Rainycrest Long-Term Care Facility here effective Jan. 7.
Formerly the director of resident care at Rainycrest since May, 2005, Bodnar has much experience managing long-term care and serving the health care needs of Rainy River District.
She also held the position of director of nursing at the Emo Health Centre from January, 2001-May, 2005.
“I’m very happy to be here,” Bodnar enthused. “I really like working here and I love the residents. We also have a good management team, which makes the job easier.”
She noted she also enjoys the wonderful, hard-working staff at the facility.
“They’re a great bunch of people and one of my goals would be to make it a little easier for them,” she remarked.
In her role as administrator, Bodnar said she will be overseeing the day-to-day operation of Rainycrest and ensuring everything goes smoothly.
“I’m still going to be very involved in the day-to-day care because I like to know what’s going on,” she stressed.
Bodnar reports to Riverside CEO Wayne Woods.
“[Bodnar] is an asset to our organization and I know she will do an excellent job in this new capacity,” Woods noted in a press release.
Bodnar indicated she is interested in giving Rainycrest a facelift inside—making it brighter and fixing a few things.
She also wants to continue to work at making the community’s view of the facility a positive one.
“We want the community to see Rainycrest as a good place,” she explained. “There are lots of seniors who can’t live on their own . . . and need a place to go. We want to be that place.
“We want people to know that their loved ones are safe and well-cared for, and that families can come and participate,” she added. “We’d like to work with the community to make it a better place.”
She noted they try to make Rainycrest “as happy as possible.”
“We do our best to ensure the residents are safe and happy, and that they are kept as active as possible,” she remarked.
In addition to a facelift for the interior of the facility, Bodnar also noted there are plans to work on the outdoor courtyards this spring.
“We’re going to dig them up and redo them to make sure they are safe,” she said, noting the ground currently is uneven and could be unsafe.
“We want the residents to be able to enjoy the courtyards.”
In related news, Laurie Ball was appointed to the position of director of resident care at Rainycrest Long-Term Care Facility effective Jan. 21.
She currently is the director of nursing at the Emo Health Centre and previously was employed with the Community Care Access Centre.
