RRWT gets the green light from committee

The Rainy River Walleye Tournament scheduled for Sept 16 thru 18, 2021 is still a go, although the format is still undetermined. At a meeting of the RRWT Committee last week various options for this year’s event were discussed. It was decided it was still a go but no firm plans as to how the event commitments would be made until the COVID 19 restrictions including border travel are clarified. Registrations, fees, and attendance will simply have to be postponed for the present.

There will not be a Big Tent, although a smaller shelter may be considered and no plans are being made for a larger spectator commitment.

It is hoped that the Kid’s Fishing program, always a popular feature, can be offered, but no dances, entertainment, suppers or Beer gardens are being contemplated at this time.

As Covid 19 restrictions including vaccinations and border travel restrictions are clarified over the next weeks and months the RRWT will announce plans.

One event in conjunction with the RRWT, The Pontoon Boat Raffle run by the West Rainy River District Lions Club is a definite GO. Tickets for the Raffle are already at Rainy River Merchants and Businesses across the District and are selling well. The premium Princecraft Vectra 21 LT Pontoon Boat, Mercury motor and Karavan trailer package is expected to arrive in mid April and will be on display across the District. Watch for it. In addition to the main draw Sept. 18, there will be a $1000 Early Bird Draw to be held in Rainy River, July 17.
