Death, taxes, and the Muskie boys’ soccer team winning the championship.
Those seemingly are the only certainties in life.
The Muskies netted a pair of goals in the second half as they nabbed their eighth-straight league title with a 2-0 shutout of the visiting Kenora Broncos in the NorWOSSA final yesterday afternoon.
They now advance to the all-Ontarios set for June 7-9 in Windsor.
Cole Magill and Connor Nelson provided the goals for the Muskies while Jacob Albright earned the shutout in goal.
Fort High (5-0-1) had earned the bye to the final by virtue of its first-place finish during the regular season.
The Broncos edged the Dryden Eagles 1-0 in the semi-final earlier yesterday to earn the title shot against the Muskies.
In girls’ action, the black-and-gold (1-4-1) fell just short of advancing to OFSAA after dropping a narrow 2-1 decision to the Eagles in their final.
Pasquel Shortreed netted the squad’s lone goal in the second half.
The Muskies had beaten the Broncos 1-0 in the semi-final that morning to advance to face the top-ranked Eagles.
Janissa Judson fired Fort High’s lone goal just a few minutes into the game.
Hallee Bassant was in goal for both matches.
