Muskie girls fourth at Winnipeg tournament

In their first road trip of the season, the Muskie girls’ hockey team fought but came up short of a medal, finishing fourth at the Sturgeon Heights Huskies 2007 Female Invitational Hockey Classic in Winnipeg.
The Muskies topped the Sanford Sabres 3-1 on Friday night, then tied the Dryden Eagles 4-4 on Saturday morning.
They concluded round-robin play with a 1-0 shutout over the host Sturgeon Heights Huskies.
But the squad lost 4-2 to the St. Mary’s Flames in the semi-finals before being blanked 3-0 by the Kenora Broncos in the consolation final.
Kristen Penner led the way offensively with three goals and two assists over the five games. Nina Bird, Taylor Meyers, and Lauren Krukoski each notched two goals and two assists.
The black-and-gold kick off the NorWOSSA season next Tuesday (Nov. 13) when Dryden comes to town.
