The Town of Fort Frances is expected to get long-awaited federal funding for the Rainy Lake Market Square project next week.
Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP Don Rusnak will be in town Tuesday to make an announcement on behalf of Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, Navdeep Singh Bains.
An event will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the market square site.
As previously reported, FedNor approved a $655,000 grant for project last year but never formally announced it.
The town moved ahead with the market square plans accordingly, with the aim to see it completed this fall.
The provincial Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp. (NOHFC) announced $997,500 for the market square project in 2014.
