Competitors from around the region put their skillful hand and strength to the test during the 42nd-annual loggers’ competition on Friday morning during the Emo Fair.
From chair carving to the classic axe chop, several competitions tested both the mind and body of the 10 loggers competing for first place.
There was a good turnout this year as the competitors dazzled the audience in the grandstands as the smell of fresh-cut wood and sawdust flying through the air.
Organizers said they were pleased with the turnout and optimistic for next year event as the logging competition is unique within northwestern Ontario.
Below is a list of the overall winners, special awards and the top three competitors from each event.
Overall, Jason Caul earned first place, while Vaughn Wilson got second and Kelvin Caul garnered third.
Safety Logger of the Year was Kelvin Caul, while Rookie Logger of the year was Darwin Lance.
Jason Caul was Champion Logger of the Year.
