While the need for board members and volunteer help was met for the upcoming Fort Frances Youth Soccer season, the biggest issue now is having enough coaches for the players who will be taking part.
“At our most recent board meeting on Thursday night, we currently have enough coaches to fill Division V [for players aged 13-15] while in the rest of our leagues we only have one or two,” FFYS secretary Catherine McGuire said.
“We’re looking for anywhere between two to six more coaches per the rest of our divisions, and we need to get those in place rather quickly in order to have our season go ahead as planned,” she stressed.
McGuire noted previous soccer experience is not a requirement for those who want to coach.
“We actually have former Muskie coach Jim Curr, who has come on board this year and has offered to do some coaching clinics for us,” she said.
“And he’s willing to share his wealth of soccer knowledge for anyone who is interested.
“We also supply coaching packages for all of our coaches, which includes all of the information that they need, along with what they need in order to run the drills for their team,” McGuire added.

Registration for the 2012 season also has been set for March 20-21 from 6-8 p.m. at the Memorial Sports Centre.
