Yacht club runs last fall race

It was another great evening as the Rendezvous Yacht Club wrapped up its Wednesday night fall series.
With a strong 20-knot wind, Colin Hewitt pulled out another first-place finish aboard his Tanzer 22, “Ariba.” Close behind was Todd Hamilton, also in a Tanzer 22, “Through.”
Jack Bartlett sailed an excellent race on the “Mad Hatter” to place third.
Rounding out the fleet were Bob Hamilton (“Salty Dog”), Jas Spencer (“Beagle”), and Quinn McCarthy (“Sedna”).
The club would like to thank John Deschamps for his excellent job on the committee boat all season. For those who have not had enough racing this year, he will run fun races each Wednesday as long as the weather holds.
These races will not be given points toward the series trophies.
The final official race of the season will be the Pumpkin Cup on Saturday, Sept. 15. This year, the race will start from the Thunderbird Lodge.
Check out our Web site–http://members.tripod.com/rycweb–for race results.
In other club news, members just finished the annual Labour Day Cruise. Six boats tripped up the North Arm for three days of sailing and camaraderie.
Members will be going out again for the fall cruise starting Sept. 22.
The club finally has purchased a motor for the committee boat. Many thanks to everyone who helped with fundraising.
Thanks also to La Place Rendez-Vous for their fine hospitality this summer.
The season will wrap up with the Commodore’s Ball set for Nov. 3.
