WRRD Lions support youth recreation

The West Rainy River District Lions Club is able to add some support to both the Rainy River Minor Hockey and the Rainy River figure Skating Club with the outstanding community support of their 50/50 Christmas draw. All 250 of the $20 Tickets were sold says Draw Committee Chair Gordon Armstrong raising $2500 for the two clubs to purchase ice time for their activities.

The draw of the $2500 winning ticket was held at the Rainy River Legion on Friday December 18. The lucky winner was Dorothy Wiersema of Dawson Municipality… a nice little Christmas present to put under the tree.

Although recreational activities are curtailed under ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, activities will continue in line with health guidelines, and surplus funds in support of our youth may be delegated to future events.

The West Rainy River District Lions Club operating primarily west of the Morley/Chapple Boundary of the District through its fundraising activities, provides financial support to other youth groups, seniors, and eligible charities including provincially the CNIB and Childhood Cancer Care.
