The Sight & Sound Wolves just don’t seem to want to lose these days.
The Fort Frances-based squad extended its overall win streak to 10 games with a 6-0 win over the reeling Sabaskong Cubs in the first round of the Rainy River District Fastball League playoffs Tuesday night.
Winning pitcher John Desaulniers helped his own cause by bashing the only home run of the game, taking Sheldon Kelly deep.
The third-seeded Wolves next will face the winner of No. 7 Stratton and No. 2 Big Grassy Lightning, who play tonight, on Tuesday (Aug. 3).
Stratton, meanwhile, advanced by edging No. 8 Northwest Bay 5-3 on Tuesday.
Eagles’ pitcher Guy Arpin belted a home run, sending Northwest Bay’s Terry Smith to defeat.
In action last night, No. 5 Rainy River upended the No. 4 Big Grassy Braves 5-3.
Murray Armstrong took the win while Travis Tom was tagged with the loss.
The Royals next will face the winner of tonight’s game between top-ranked Barwick and ninth-seeded Big Island.
The Huskies advanced after last-place Manitou forfeited yesterday’s game.
Being a double-knockout format, teams losing their first games still have a reprieve tonight.
Northwest Bay faces the Big Grassy Braves while Manitou takes on Sabaskong.
