The Sight & Sound Wolves continued their late-season surge last night, sweeping both ends of a doubleheader against visiting Rainy River in make-up action.
The Wolves (12-5) eked out a 2-1 win in the opener, with Bob Andy taking the pitcher’s duel over Murray Armstrong.
In the nightcap, John Desaulniers was the winner in a 5-0 blanking.
Armstrong was tagged with his second loss of the night for the Royals, who fell to 9-8 on the season.
With the wins, the Wolves moved into a second-place tie in the RRDFL with the Big Grassy Lightning.
Sight & Sound now has won eight-straight games, including a 14-5 victory over Big Island on Tuesday night, heading into tonight’s regular-season finale against Northwest Bay at VanJura Park.
Bob Andy and Joe Sinclair belted homers against Big Island to lift Desaulniers while Robert Handorgan was tagged with the loss for the Huskies (3-14).
Neither the Wolves nor the Lightning have a chance to capture first place heading into the playoffs next week as the Barwick Knights (15-3) clinched the top spot with a 3-2 win over Sabaskong on Tuesday night.
J.J. Landry earned the win for Barwick while Gus Copenace took the loss for the Cubs (10-5).
In other RRDFL action Tuesday, the Big Grassy Lightning (12-5) bombed Northwest Bay 18-0, the Big Grassy Braves (11-6) doubled Rainy River 6-3, and Stratton dumped Manitou 12-4.
