Wolves stump Stratton

The Sight & Sound Wolves again showed some resiliency, bouncing back after a loss to improve their Rainy River District Fastball League record to 3-2.
The Wolves continued their pattern of alternating wins and losses with a 4-1 victory over visiting Stratton at VanJura Park here last night.
Bob Andy picked up the victory while Guy Arpin suffered the loss for Stratton (2-4).
In other RRDFL action, the Big Grassy Lightning kept Big Island out of the win column with a 19-1 thumping.
Chris Jack, Jeff Morrison, and Randy Morrison all belted home runs while Jeff Morrison picked up the win for the Lightning (4-2).
Rueben Gibbins was on the mound for 0-7 Big Island.
Elsewhere, Sabaskong dumped Manitou 9-2 on the strength of two homers by Don Copenace, who also got the win for the Cubs (5-1).
Aaron Pitchenese pitched for Manitou, who fell to 2-4.
Meanwhile, Rainy River’s offence continued to struggle as the Royals suffered their third-straight shutout—this time 3-0 to the Barwick Blue Knights.
George Oltsher picked up the win for Barwick (6-1) while Murray Armstrong again was the hard-luck loser for Rainy River (2-3).
Lastly, the Big Grassy Braves topped Northwest Bay 12-8.
Travis Tom got the win for the Braves (4-2) while Terry Smith was tagged with the loss for Northwest Bay (2-4).
