Wolves ousted by Blue Knights

The Rainy River District Fastball League final will be no place to howl next week.
The third-place Barwick Blue Knights made sure of that last night in front of their fans after ousting the fifth-seeded Sight & Sound Wolves from title contention with a 7-3 semi-final victory.
Brad Wakefield crushed a home run for the winners while Barwick pitcher J.J. Landry bested his Sight & Sound counterpart, Marcel Pagee.
Sight & Sound went into the game on a four-game winning streak.
But Barwick’s third victory in four playoff outings means a trip to Big Grassy on Tuesday to face the defending champion and top-ranked Braves, who pounded Barwick 15-0 this past Tuesday to knock the Blue Knights into the ‘B’ side of the playoff draw.
Big Grassy needs only one win to become back-to-back champ.
Barwick, on the other hand, must win on Tuesday and then again next Thursday (Aug. 29) to capture their first RRDFL crown since 1995.
In related news, eight men’s teams will gather at Onigaming First Nation for a tournament, which begins tomorrow and runs through Sunday.
