Wolves back atop RRDFL

It’s a battle of first versus last tonight at VanJura Stadium here when the Sight & Sound Wolves (10-2) take on Sabaskong (2-8) in Rainy River District Fastball League action.
The first pitch is at 8 p.m.
Sight & Sound reclaimed top spot in the RRDFL son Tuesday night courtesy a thrilling 3-2 eight-inning victory at Rainy River (9-3).
John Desaulniers (1-0) outduelled Rainy River’s Murray Armstrong (8-3) to pick up his first win of the season.
In other RRDFL action Tuesday night, Barwick (6-5) took sole possession of third place in the standings with a 14-7 victory over Big Island (3-7-1).
Barwick’s Travis Derkson led the offensive explosion with a pair of home runs while teammate Kevin Gemmell added another.
Carl Big George responded with a homer for Big Island but it was not enough.
George Oltsher (5-2) earned the win while Will Handorgan (2-5) was saddled with the loss.
Meanwhile, International Falls (5-4) climbed back above the .500 mark courtesy a 10-1 victory over visiting Big Grassy (2-7-1).
Falls pitcher Mike Imhof (1-2) silenced the Big Grassy bats to earn the victory. Jeff Morrison (2-5) took the loss.
The other game Tuesday night saw last place Sabaskong earn a hard-fought 8-7 win over Stratton (5-7).
Makwa Copenace hit his first homer of the season for Sabaskong in the victory.
John Big George (2-3) earned the win while Jeff Kreger (0-1) took the loss in his first decision of the season.
The rest of tonight’s RRDFL schedule includes International Falls visiting Stratton, Barwick at home to Big Grassy, and Rainy River at Big Island.
