It’s been a great start to the Borderland Racing Association season for Tanner Williamson.
After not winning a single feature last season, the Fort Frances native now has claimed back-to-back checkered flags as he cruised to victory yet again in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds division on Saturday night at the Emo Speedway.
It was an all-Fort top-three finish in Saturday’s race as James Lambert was second and two-time defending champ Cody Ossachuk placed third.
Wyatt Boyum of International Falls wound up fourth while Jason Anderson of the Fort rounded out the top-five.
With the win, Williamson upped his points total in the division to 222–25 more than Ossachuk (197).
Lambert currently sits third (195), Mike Wilson of Devlin is fourth (190), and Anderson is in fifth (187).
Brody Strachan was able to get his first checkered flag under his belt as the three-time defending champion blasted his way to victory in the WISSOTA Modifieds division.
The Emo native nabbed the win just ahead of Gavin Paull of Fort Frances while Brady Caul of the Fort was third.
Brandon Pelepetz of Emo took fourth spot while Tyler Brown of Rainy River rounded out the top-five.
With the win, Strachan currently sits tied for first for the division points lead with Caul with 212.
Paull is just behind with 211 while Brown sits third (189).
Pelepetz currently sits fourth (186) while Ron Korpi of the Fort is fifth (175).
In the street stocks division, meanwhile, defending champ Tylar Wilson of the Fort raced his way to his first feature win of the season.
After finishing 10th in the first race of the season, Wilson soared his way to the checkered flag over the likes of Raice Westover and Doug Derendorf, both of the Fort.
Jyllian Westover of the Fort moved up three spots from the first race to finish fourth on Saturday night while Jesse Thompson of Emo rounded out the top-five.
With the win, Wilson now just sits 10 points back of the points lead in the division with 193.
Raice Westover remains at the helm (203) while Derendorf sits third (188).
Thompson and Jyllian Westover are tied for fourth with 186 points each while Dean Kellar and Sierra Happy of Devlin are fifth (183).
Racing resumes this Saturday, with hot laps at 7 p.m. and the first heat starting at 7:30 (weather permitting).
In racing action elsewhere over the weekend, Williamson wound up sixth in the Midwest Modifieds feature at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, Wis. on Friday night.
Boyum was 13th in the same race while Caul failed to finish the Modifieds feature and ended up in 15th spot.
At the I-94 Speedway at Princeton on Friday, meanwhile, Paull wound up 15th in the Modifieds feature.
Jake Froemke of International Falls was 11th at Greenbush in the street stocks feature on Saturday while Jeff Davis was sixth in the Modifeds feature in Hibbing.
