Wildcats, Power Paks switch spots

In a preview of their successful tournament run, the Wildcats used a big night last Thursday to make the lone move up in the Fort Frances Women’s Volleyball League standings.
A five-point outing for the Wildcats, combined with the Power Paks being shut out, boosted them into fifth place with 51 points and dropped the Power Paks into sixth (49).
The Wildcats parlayed their strong play last week into a second-place finish in the league’s first-annual tournament Saturday at Fort High, which was won by a squad from Sioux Lookout.
The Die Hards, who reached the tournament semi-finals, collected four points last Thursday to maintain their lead atop the standings with 75.5 points.
Gillons’ (64 points) moved slightly closer to the top with a five-point night, equalling the effort of third-place Scared Hitless (73).
Sabaskong was blanked, but still held on to fourth place (60.5).
The final four positions behind the Wildcats and Power Paks remained unchanged after last Thursday’s action, with the Squirts (46.5) in seventh, followed by the Mixed Nuts (28), The Placers (17.5), and the Rookies (15).
Action resumes today at 7 p.m. at Fort High and Robert Moore School.
