Weekend full of wins for Muskies

The Muskie girls’ hockey team headed north while the boys headed south, but both teams came away with a pair of wins on the weekend.
The boys took a pair of exhibition games—7-1 over the Lafayette Eagles in Red Lake Falls, Mn. on Friday and 5-0 over the Kittson Central Wolfpack in Hallock, Mn. on Saturday.
“Overall, I think they did a pretty decent job. We were better in our own zone, which we were working on, and that was good to see,” Muskies head coach Shane Bliss said.
Matt McLellan led the team offensively, netting four goals over the two games.
The girls’ team, meanwhile, earned a pair of exhibition shutouts at a tournament in Dryden, sandwiching a 5-2 loss to the host Eagles.
The Muskies had stomped Dryden 8-1 in NorWOSSA action there last Thursday, but the Eagles proved the stronger team in the exhibition rematch the following night.
The girls had blanked the Kenora Broncos 1-0 earlier Friday afternoon, then downed the Red Lake Rams 5-0 on Saturday afternoon.
