Ward cards top score at Memorial golf tourney

Greg Ward fired an even-par 72 for a one-stroke victory over Mike Dick in the championship flight of the Memorial Day golf tournament Sunday at Kitchen Creek.
Finishing two strokes off the pace at 74 was Rob Badiuk, followed by Greg Ross (76), Barry Coffin (78), and Ian McLennan (80).
Jay Hill topped the first flight with a 78, one stroke better than Glen Edwards and Terry Ellwood.
Terry Martinson and Dave Bruyere finished two shots off the pace with 80s. Brian Kosowick was next with an 82, followed by Kent Campbell at 84.
Jeromy Wensley won the second flight with a 79, four strokes better than Earl Roth. Gus MacDonell, Ron Mondor, and Brad Oster each had 86s, followed by Mike Asplund (87) and John McLeod (88).
The third flight saw Scott Lamb card the low score with an 89, followed by Roy Tighe (93), Larry Dolk (94), Jack Cameron (96), Don Hammond (97), Wily Cole (97), and Darcy Maguire (98).
Peter Badiuk was closest-to-the-hole on #7 while Steve Kosowick won the honours at #11.
Winning the skins were Greg Ross (#4), Dave Bondett (#7), Terry Martinson (#8), Mike Willick (#9), Mike Dick (#13), and Kevin Webb (#14).
