The Rainy River Community College Voyageurs had a successful trip to Brookings, S.D. on the weekend, collecting a pair of wins over the host South Dakota State Jackrabbits in ACHA Division 2 play.
The squad cruised to a 6-1 win Saturday night, with former Muskie Katrina Wreggitt notching a goal and an assist.
Jenna Brady, Carlee Bosma, Chelsea Poulton, Janet Scherrer, and Brittany Johnson also tallied.
Then Sunday morning’s contest was a much tighter affair that saw RRCC earn a 3-2 win, thanks largely to a 33-save performance by Fort Frances native Katelynn Stearns.
Wreggitt led the way again with a goal and an assist, with Johnson and Jessica Taggart also scoring.
The Voyageurs found out Friday that they were in a tie for second place with the University of Alaska Nanooks in the most recent ACHA rankings.
The Wisconsin-Stout Blue Devils remain in top spot.
The Voyageurs next will host the Minot State Beavers this Saturday at 7 p.m. and again on Sunday at noon.
Both games will take place at Bronco Arena in the Falls.
