Voyageurs still unbeaten

The Rainy River Community College Voyageurs women’s hockey team kept its undefeated record intact following a trip to Duluth last weekend, skating to a win and a tie against the top-ranked Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.
In their first game Saturday afternoon, the two ACHA rivals battled to a 1-1 tie, with Carlee Bosma of Emo netting the lone goal for RRCC in the first period.
Fort Frances native Katelynn Stearns turned aside 25 shots to keep the score all knotted up.
Then Sunday morning, the Voyageurs skated away with a 1-0 triumph.
Janet Scherrer notched the game-winning goal with just under five minutes to go in regulation time. Randi Stewart made 25 saves to earn her first shutout.
Next up for the defending national champs will be a trip to Ames, Iowa to take on the Iowa State Cyclones in a two-game series December 3-4.
