The Rainy River Community College Voyageurs women’s hockey team will be heading back to defend their ACHA Division II national title.
The squad will head to Wooster, Ohio next month after being seeded second in the final West region rankings of the season.
The Voyageurs, who also won the national title in 2008 and 2009, finished just behind the University of Wisconsin-Stout Blue Devils in the rankings.
With the number-two seed in their back pocket, the Voyageurs have been placed in a pool with the University of Delaware Blue Hens, ranked first in the East region, and the Alaska Nanooks, who finished just behind the Voyageurs in the West rankings.
The Voyageurs’ first game of the tournament is set for Saturday, March 10 at 6:15 p.m. against the Blue Hens.
Then they’ll meet the Nanooks the following day at 8 a.m.
The semi-finals are scheduled that night, with the championship game slated for Monday, March 12 at 6 p.m.
