The Rainy River Community College Voyageurs have had a fine start to their season, bursting out to a 7-1-1 record in American Collegiate Hockey Association action so far this season.
RRCC extended that with a pair if blowout wins over host North Dakota State University Bisons over the weekend, taking an 8-3 win Saturday and then a 9-3 victory yesterday.
Local product Jessie Baker led the way in Saturday’s game, notching a hat trick to go along with an assist, while Brenley Anderson of Rainy River had a goal and two helpers.
Meanwhile, Fort Frances native Katelynn Stearns stopped 34-of-37 shots between the pipes.
The game was tight for the first half.
Anderson and Baker both had break-out games yesterday, picking up eight points and seven points, respectively.
Both players notched hat tricks.
Dryden product Kelsey Fuerst made 41 saves for the win.
The Voyageurs will return to action in January when the Bison visit Bronco Arena for a pair of games Jan. 15-16.
