A spirited second-half push gave La Place Rendez-Vous a come-from-behind 74-64 victory over Dominos in the local men’s basketball league final Monday night at Fort High.
The rough and emotional showdown featured plenty of bad blood, with Dominos taking a 36-29 lead into the break.
But the regular-season champs couldn’t hold off a late push by the defending champs.
“We were down by 17 in the game before when we came back to win [during the regular season],” Vous member Vic Davis noted. “The game before that we were winning 25-0 before they even scored and they made it close that game, so it was just weird.
“They clobbered us the first two times they played us and we won the last three.
“Really competitive. Fun games, though,” Davis added.
Aaron Rost lit it up with 36 points for the Vous while John Sivonen netted 24 for Dominos before fouling out late in the game.
Meanwhile, the Muskies took the bronze with a 104-62 romp over an undermanned Taggs squad.
Kurt Hill had a game-high 28 points for the Muskies while DJ Mackintosh tallied 19 for Taggs.
