Visiting Bears maul Muskies

The Baudette Bears decided to spread the wealth around here Tuesday night—and the Muskie boys’ hockey team was the poorer for it.
Ryan McInerny had three points to lead the attack as the Lake of the Woods Bears (Baudette) downed the black-and-gold 6-1 in exhibition action at the Ice for Kids Arena.
Then visitors led 1-0 after Garret Raundaiyun opened the scoring, then Aaron Gens and McInerny tallied 90 seconds apart later in the first period to make it 3-0.
Grant Slick had the only goal of the second period before Brent Olson netted an unassisted marker early in third to give the Bears a 5- 0 lead.
Steven Sus finally gave the home crowd a reason to cheer when he finished off a three-way play involving David Pierce and Matt Redford to make it 5-1.
Greg Beller then beat the Fort High goalie with eight minutes left to cap the scoring.
The Muskies resume Nor- WOSSA action this Friday night and Saturday afternoon up in Red Lake, with their next home games slated for Feb. 6-7 against the Sioux Lookout Warriors.
In related news, today’s scheduled games here between the Muskie court teams and the Dryden Eagles were postponed.
The Fort High junior girls’ volleyball team heads to Thunder Bay tomorrow for a weekend tournament while the senior boys’ basketball team will be in one in Kenora.
The squads are not slated to return to NorWOSSA action until Feb. 5 in Kenora against the Broncos.
