The Fort Frances Lakers keep working towards filling their void up front.
General manager and head coach Wayne Strachan announced today the signings of forwards Zach Bennett and Kyle Folson.
Bennett, an 18-year-old from Grande Prairie, Alta., played with the Junior ‘B’ Grande Prairie Kings last season in the North West Junior Hockey League.
He notched 39 points during 29 regular-season games and another three in six playoff games.
Folson, 18, saw minimal action with the Grand Forks Central Kings in his hometown of Grand Forks, N.D.
He registered no points in three games.
The Lakers will hold their main training camp Aug. 27-29 at the Ice For Kids Arena.
As for pre-season action, the Lakers will face the Steinbach Pistons, the MJHL runners-up from last season, in a home-and-home series.
Fort Frances gets home-ice advantage for the first game Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m., with the rematch taking place Sept. 11 in Steinbach.
The Lakers also tentatively are scheduled to face Minnesota in another home-and-home series.
