Two local squashers play in Winnipeg tourney

This past weekend, the lady Woolers squash team tournament took place at CFB Winnipeg.
Two local ladies were entered the eight-team showdown.
Dana Kosowick lost her first best-of-five match 3-2 to Melina Turk of Winnipeg. But she rebounded with two best-of-three wins (2-0 over both Cathie Hutfluss and Tasha Vance of Winnipeg).
Mary-Beth Tkachuk, meanwhile, was victorious in her first best-of-five match, winning 3-0 over Marcie Thiessen of Winnipeg.
But Tkachuk then lost her next two best-of-three matches 2-1 to both Lisa Bayko and Judy Mitchell of Winnipeg.
The Fort ladies teams did not advance to the finals.
In related news, the local ladies will be hosting their annual “Rookie Roundup” squash tournament Nov. 18 at the Memorial Sports Centre.

Meanwhile, a local contingent of men’s players will be travelling to Minneapolis to participate in the Commodore club singles and doubles events Nov. 10-12.
