Two first-place results for skaters


A pair of skaters with the local Border Skating Club came away with first-place finishes at the Winnipeg Super Skate over the weekend.
Avery Wilson-Hands was tops in the junior bronze spins event while teammate Alina Eldridge took first in the preliminary jump flight ‘B’ category.
Wilson-Hands also had a pair of second-place showings in the junior bronze free skate and the junior bronze jump events, in addition to receiving her silver level in the junior bronze elements.
Eldridge, meanwhile, placed second in the preliminary spins flight ‘B’ and third in the preliminary free skate flight ‘A.’
Also collecting top-three finishes for the local club were Jillian Bobczynski (second in gold interpretive flight ‘A’ and third in open star free skate), Jamie Spencer (third in pre-preliminary spins flight ‘A’), Lexi Caul (third in preliminary jump flight ‘D’), and Lizzie Klem (third in pre-preliminary free skate flight ‘D’).
In addition to her third-place showing, Caul also earned her silver level in preliminary elements.
