Former Fort High grad Ed Davis has been honoured by Brock University.
Some 50 years ago, Davis started the hockey program at Brock, where he was general manager and coach for the first four years until an athletic director arrived.
He later was inducted as a “Builder” into Brock’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
Davis also started Brock’s intercollegiate curling program.
The university’s first Ontario Intercollegiate Championship came from the curling team that Davis was coaching.
Last week, Brock brought Davis back to honour him by commissioning a new trophy in his name for the hockey team’s Most Valuable Player award.

Although not welcome by most, the unseasonably cold, snowy fall has enabled trail preparation to start sooner than usual at the Rainy Lake Nordic Ski Club’s trails at Rocky Inlet.
The trails have been rolled and a good base has been established.
Club equipment will not be put out until it can establish a classic track.
People also are asked to refrain from walking on the ski trails.
In related news, the club’s 2017/18 fee structure will be established at its annual meeting, which will be held in a couple of weeks.
