Trio of ‘birders’ off to OFSAA

Three Muskie badminton players are Stratford-bound.
Rory Bagacki captured the senior boys’ singles title at the NWOSSAA championships in Atikokan yesterday.
Meanwhile, the senior girls’ doubles team of Kimika Alexander and Chelsea Carlson earned a first-place showing in their division, meaning all three will be competing at the all-Ontarios for the second-straight year.
The Fort High contingent finished out of the medals last year, with Simone Desjardins being the lone Muskie to bring home hardware from the all-Ontarios—taking the ‘C’ bronze medal back in 2002.
Bagacki was part of a tandem with Tim Desjardins last year but is flying solo this time around.
The other Muskie senior girls’ team of Hannah Taylor and Jillian Berry placed third at NWOSSAA, as did the senior boys’ duo of Robert Stevens and Spencer Pearse.
As for the juniors, the Muskie boys’ team of Andre Emond and Bryson Skirten came second in their division while Cassandra Spade was third in hers.
