Before they get ready for their competitive season, the Muskie track-and-field team will have a unique challenge to deal with—and they’re inviting the public to help out.
The black-and-gold will be joining forces with the Fort High band on Saturday, May 4 for a fundraising event at the Sorting Gap Marina, where runners and walkers will be taking to a 5K course while the band performs a concert.
“The goal of the runners and the walkers is to make it over the finish line before the band stops playing,” explained Muskie head coach Natasha Shack.
“For those who do finish before the band finishes their concert, they can enjoy music to their ears,” she added.
The event, which
previously was organized by Energy Fitness, will follow the same course along the waterfront and out to Pither’s Point, with all proceeds going to the FFHS band and Muskie track-and-field club.
The 5K run/walk will get underway at 9 a.m., with a 1K kids’ run slated for 8:30 a.m.
Registration forms can be found at northlandrunner.com, as well as at Energy Fitness Centre and the main office at Fort High
Members of the Muskie track team and the band also have registration forms that can be picked up in advance.
Completed registration forms can be dropped off at the FFHS main office or Energy Fitness until Thursday, May 2.
Kit pick-up will be Friday, May 3 from 4-7 p.m. at Fort High.
