Andrew Easton, assisted by George Ossachuk, scored the lone Fort goal against West End and was named his team’s MVP for the game. Kyle Herr was named the Fort’s MVP against Marathon.
Fort Frances opened action Friday morning with a 10-0 drubbing over Ignace, paced by two-goal efforts from Danny Chapman, Easton, Ossachuk, and Taylor Jorgenson. Kevin Bobczynski and Brian Glavish also scored.
Brent Lindberg was named MVP for the game while Mellisa Calder earned the shutout in goal.
Then against the North End Flames (Thunder Bay) later that evening, the Fort played to a tight 1-1 draw. Glavish opened the scoring in the first period, assisted by Ossachuk, but the Flames knotted the score in the third on a goal by Arthur Gulbinowicz.
Calder again was stellar in net for the Fort and was named game MVP.
