Local cyclist Jeff Tilbury had a pair of good showings over the weekend in Manitoba, with two top-five finishes in the events he participated in.
On Saturday in Carmen, Tilbury finished fifth overall at the X-Terra Manitoba off-road duathlon, where he completed a hilly six-km trial run, a 20-km mountain bike run, and a three-km trial run in a time of 2:31.16.
He followed that up with a fourth-place finish at the Manitoba Provincial Criterium Championship in Winnipeg on Sunday, where he and other riders raced at high speeds over a tight technical course over a fixed period of time.
Looking ahead, Tilbury is hoping to create a little friendly competition for local cyclists and triathletes by organizing the 25-km Borderland Individual Time Trial Challenge, which will take place Sunday, Sept. 25.
The event will feature categories for mountain bikes, road bikes, and triathlon bikes, with the entry fee being just $5.
