Those wanting to attend the 29th-annual Fort Frances Ducks Unlimited banquet coming up May 6 had better get their tickets soon as they are selling quickly.
There are 180 tickets available, with those who purchase their tickets before April 22 entered into the early-bird draw for a Labrador dinner bell.
The event will take place at La Place Rendez-Vous, with the meal to feature chicken schnitzel, polonaise soup, fresh garden salad, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans almondine.
A creamy cheesecake with strawberry coulis will be served for dessert.
“The night will also include a number of raffles with lots of great prizes available,” organizer Kevin Begin enthused, saying there’s always some locally-donated merchandise, along with DU prints and other items for the outdoor enthusiast.
He indicated there will be a silent auction as well as a live one, with Telford Advent as the auctioneer.
Begin also said if people notice DU prints or merchandise at any local businesses, that is to identify them as a local donor.
“We have a very successful banquet,” he stressed, noting the event typically generates $25,000-$30,000 each year.
“We just want people to come out and have a great night, a great meal, and possibly take a prize home,” Begin added.
Ducks Unlimited—a national, private, non-profit organization—has been committed to wetland conservation for more than 70 years.
Despite this, wetland loss continues across Canada and up to 70 percent of wetlands have disappeared in settled areas of the country.
Begin encourages everyone to support the efforts of Ducks Unlimited by attending next month’s banquet.
Tickets cost $50 each or $90 per couple, which includes a one-year DU membership and subscription to DU’s “Conservator” magazine.
