Two big periods changed the Borderland Thunder’s fate versus the KC Bulldogs over the weekend in Thunder Bay.
Leading 4-1 on Friday night, Thunder goalie Dan Hoehne surrendered three goals in the third as the Bulldogs salvaged a 4-4 tie.
Kyle Schroder, Justin Green (Kevin Webb), Aaron Boyer (Steve McLeod/Kurt Hogard), and Josh McAndrew (Hogard/Clayton Windigo) provided the offence for the Thunder.
It was a different story when the two teams met again Saturday night. This time, it was the Thunder who scored three times in the second period en route to a 4-2 victory.
Defenceman Cale David led the attack with a pair of goals, the first assisted by Webb and the second by Webb and Hogard.
Webb also netted his 24th goal of the season while Andrew Perrault (P.J. Stodgell) tallied his first.
Mike Downer earned the win between the pipes, stopping 31 of the 33 shots fired his way.
The Thunder next play Wednesday against the Ice Dogs in Dryden.
