The Thunder Bay Sportop Kings swept the visiting Sioux Hawks to win the best-of-three regional playdowns last weekend and advance to the Ontario Hockey League Cup.
Thunder Bay clinched the series Saturday with a 13-3 romp. They had beaten the Hawks 6-1 in the opener Friday.
The Kings will now compete for the OHL Cup in Mississauga from March 27-April 1.
In PeeWee action, the Thunder Bay Centre Ice Sports Kings beat the Sioux Hawks 7-2 Sunday to finish with a 2-0 record to win the Northwestern Ontario branch playdowns. They earlier trounced the Schreiber North Stars 13-2.
The Hawks had earlier beaten Schreiber (no score was available) to finish the round-robin at 1-1.
Thunder Bay now moves on to the provincials in Sarnia on April 2-9.
